“The best part is probably meeting people with cancer out of hospital and hearing their promising stories. They show so much love and support which is so important.”

 Volunteering with Teens Unite…

Teens Unite are always looking for enthusiastic people to support us, we currently have the following volunteer roles available.

Beauty volunteers:

Teens Unite hold several beauty days throughout the year. We ask professionals in the beauty industry to help us to pamper the teens we support for a day. We would love to hear from you if you are based in London or Hertfordshire and are a tail technician, make up artist, masseuse or reflexologist and would be interested in giving your support on an ad hoc basis.

Office Admin:

We always need admin help in the office at our respite home.  We welcome volunteers to help us with the paperwork to make sure everything runs efficiently. This would be on an ad hoc basis and in particular in the run up to and following big events.

Cake Makers:

We are often approached by local businesses, fairs and schools who are keen to hold cake sales in order to raise money for Teens Unite, so if you’re the next Mary Berry please let us know so we can contact you.

Local Community Events Supporter:

Teens Unite is funded entirely by contributions, so fundraising is essential to the continued running of the charity. We are often holding local events in the community or our supporters organise events, which we always require the help of volunteers for. This could be from face painting, manning a fundraising stall, selling raffle tickets or attending a cheque presentation. Keep an eye out for the dates we have coming up throughout the year on our online calendar/newsletter.

Bucket Collectors/ Bag Packers:

We are in contact with local supermarkets throughout the year to arrange bucket collecting and bag packing dates. This is an ideal way for us to raise money for the charity and spread the word in the area about who we are and what we do. You would need to encourage as many shoppers as you can to put their hands in their pocket, on average we can raise up to £500.00!

Teens Day Supporter:

The days we organise for our teens are a massive part of the work we do. If you have a talent that you think you could share whether it’s music, sport, cooking, baking or make-up we would love for you to host a teens day. Or, perhaps you would like to lend a helping hand either on a day out or a day at our respite home?

This is where you can make a difference, anything you can do to raise money for the charity would be amazing, you could name a teddy, have a car boot sale, hold football tournament, quiz night, afternoon tea or even hold your own gala dinner. Its all about having fun and raising funds.

We also have the following annual events:

It’s A Knockout, June:

It’s A Knockout is an action-packed day for all of the family with an inflatable assault course, where different teams battle it out to be the first to cross the finish line. With fun for all the family, there will be fairground attractions, a barbeque and plenty of stalls to browse around, all of which we need volunteers to help us to run.

Mill Hill Activity Break,  August:

Each year we host a fun-filled week for 20 teens at Mill Hill School in North London. Each day consists of different activities from photography, sports, cooking and a careers workshop. We need volunteers to assist with these activities and also stay overnight as an extra pair of hands.

Here’s what some of our volunteers have to say about being a part of Teens Unite:

Ed Cole

 Ed Cole

“I got involved with Teens Unite through the local volunteer center and have been helping out where I can ever since. They really do offer something wonderful and unique among UK charities, and deserve all the help and support they get. The number of teens involved is increasing all the time against the backdrop where there remain teens across the country that lack support, and helping in the office I get to see how hard and effectively the team-members work. Help from additional people would be massively welcome, I imagine, and seems essential for the well being of these young people, keeping them active and supported through rough periods in their lives.”

Michelle Abel

“I volunteer at Teens Unite as they support our son, and we wanted to give a little bit back to this special charity and to say Thank You for what you do. You feel like you are part of a team working with the staff and the young people they support and you are always made to feel welcomed when you go to the respite home. You aren’t made to feel pressured into volunteering for any of the events (have full time jobs) you just do what you can, when you can – every little bit helps! But you always feel appreciated. We feel really proud to be involved with Teens Unite, knowing we are able to help a very specialist charity which helps young people.”

Charis Bond

“I have been getting involved with Teens Unite for the last year now and it is always a pleasure to be invited along to help out with one of the events. The team are fantastic, there hard work and dedication can’t be praised enough in my opinion. They make sure the charity have lots of exciting things to do on a regular basis and they keep everything running smoothly. When volunteering with Teens Unite you can certainly get involved, it’s great to meet with the Teens and see how they are enjoying the events and see the support which the charity offers them. This for me brings it all to life which spurs you to get further involved and do more to help!”

Nathan Randall

“Thanks a lot for letting me volunteer and stay and volunteer at Mill Hill Teens Summer Holiday! I had such an amazing time, you all work so hard and do such a great job! Everyone was so inspiring and made it such a great experience! I would be happy to help out as much as I can! So if any time you ever need volunteers I would love to have the opportunity to work with you all again..”
