Past experiences

Africa bike ride, 2014

Africa

Team Africa at the finish line

Yvonne, Chair Trustee, Teens Unite: “The last few days have taken stamina, determination and a lot of heart. It has made us stronger as people in so many positive ways. We feel so fortunate to show our support for Teens Unite in this way and look forward to sharing more memories with you in the near future.”

Vietnam to Cambodia bike ride, 2013

The moment the team had completed the Vietnam to Cambodia bike ride

Marco: “It was truly a once in a lifetime experience. Tough mentally when you turn up at some of the early accommodation and physically but at the end that all added to the experience and made it a real challenge. Some great stories and situations along the way (still laughing to myself about them now) combined with teamwork and friendship made it unforgettable.

Dave: “Quite simply the best thing I have done in a very long time.”

Lorraine: “I had the most amazing time away on this cycle challenge with everyone. It’s hard to put in such words about this journey, but I can truly say it has been a life changing experience for me and one I will never forget. I enjoyed every moment with everyone, from the cycling to visiting these amazing countires, to some challenging accommodation to the most wonderful food, sights and hotels and being with such fantastic friends on this journey.”

Debbie: “It was a trip of a lifetime. Not for the faint-hearted, it was a challenge but I would encourage others to do it as I feel it enriched my life in many ways; culturally, historically and personally. It really made me appreciate all that we have having seen others who have so little that are so happy. I found that working as a team was really important to making this trip successful.”

Angela: “The bike ride from Vietnam through to Cambodia was physically, mentally and emotionally challenging but must have no caparison to what the teens and their families go through.”

Scott: “Thank you to the team at Teens Unite for giving me the opportunity to take part in this amazing challenge. The struggles and triumphs of the trip will live long in my memory. As will the laughs and fun had with my new friends. Raising money for  such a great charity at the same time was the icing on the cake.”

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, 2014

Katie Hall reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro

Katie Hall: “After 10 minutes of reaching the summit, the sun broke the horizon and began to light up Africa and it’s breathtaking views – what a feeling, emotional, relieved, realising the achievement, I had to wipe the tears that were weeping up away quick to prevent them freezing on my face. There are no words to describe what we saw from the roof of Africa, hundreds of miles of stunning views right above the clouds, without so much as a whisper. Watching thousands of people wake up to the sun that you feel so close too…Throughout the trip I constantly reminded myself why I was doing this, and this made the huge sense of achievement so much greater. I was doing this to raise money for an amazing charity.”

Mont Blanc Trek, 2013

Patron Dwain Chambers reaching the summit of Mont Blanc

Dwain Chambers “In life we all have our own mountains to climb and conquer. Working with Teens Unite has been a humbling experience and has helped me to put my own life into perspective. These young people have the most incredible and inspirational stories of overcoming the biggest obstacles imaginable. It is a privilege to help them in an any way on their journey.”
