I was diagnosed with an ovarian germ cell tumor when I was just seventeen. It took 11 doctor’s visits with all numerous sorts to advice given from “it’s just growing pains” and “you are imagining the symptoms”. When I was eventually treated it was in an adult ward which felt quiet lonely as everyone was much older in the ward.
I first became involved with Teens Unite from my Clic Sargent worker. The first event I was invited to with Teens Unite was so lovely and I finally felt that I had found people who knew what I was going through, and who felt like family. I have now been a part for that family for 4 years and it’s been amazing, and I am sure will get only stronger.
I have just recently been on the most amazing trip to Chamonix in France with them. Where we took part in some great activities, from white water rafting, rock climbing and a two hour cycle trip.
I feel Teens Unite is the only charity that there is out there for teenagers like myself, and they have helped me come to terms with everything that has happened to me. I have been in remission for 5 years now whoop whoop!
I am so glad I found Teens Unite and consider myself part of the TU family, and I truly cannot thank them enough.
